| To
begin to understand any Globe one only needs to know that
Marco Sonderegger, Commute Bike product manger in Europe,
grew up in Switzerland, started riding at age 8 and has
been involved in the evolution of cycling ever since. Marco
keeps in touch with “urban riders” who help influence his
work.
The concept of the Globe becomes clear when
people ride it…they are light weight and very comfortable
but still fast and competitive. The non maintenance internal
gearing provides 8 speeds that are selected via a thumb
actuated shifter with gear display. The spacing between
the gears is just right with 1st being low enough for serious
hill climbing, 2nd thru 7th being perfect for flat starts
and fine tuning your cadence and then 8th for wind at you
back performance. When it comes time to slow down the Avid
Single Digit LP Brakes complete the task firm and fast.
Comfort and visibility are key to great commuting.
The combination of a Body Geometry saddle, Future Shock
seat post, A1 Premium aluminum frame and FACT carbon fiber
& aluminum fork really smooth out the ride. Of course
700 x 42c Borough tires help some too. The frame and fork
have all the fittings for racks, fenders and even those
horseshoe style European rear wheel locks. After our first test ride on the Globe Comp
IG8 it was evident that this was one great bicycle for Honolulu.
Its comfort package will fill in those potholes. Accessorize
it with rear rack, fenders and one of our recommended lighting
systems and your ready to relax on your way to work instead
of stressing in stop and go traffic. And when the work week
ends the playful side emerges with enjoyable jaunts to Sandy
Beach or beyond. |
